Amazon List (Online)
Below are links to Amazon items used by our students. Some items are mandatory, while others are just suggestions.
Most of these links are straight to Amazon.
Feel free to ask any questions before you purchase!
Pencils
During a lesson, you will be asked to mark music. We will show you where to mark to help.
It MUST be a pencil. We will need to erase things. It can be any pencil you have lying around.
Colored pencils are also recommended for all ages. Colors have been shown to help with reading music.
We also use erasable highlighters. This is not required, but they do sometimes serve a purpose.
Cameras
THIS IS NOT A MUST. A CAMERA JUST MAKES LESSONS EASIER
BEFORE YOU BUY A CAMERA, PLEASE ENSURE YOUR ELECTRONIC DEVICE WILL BE ABLE TO USE A CAMERA
Most laptops are compatible, and most phones/tablets with USB-C ports will work.
If your phone/tablet does not have a USB-C port, it may not work.
If you have any questions about compatibility, please Contact Us
We do not advise a specific camera/stand. There are so many cameras for different needs.
When you find a camera, a stand may be needed to get the camera to face down.
If you need help choosing, you can use Google and find some good articles like this one from Buyers Guide
Flash Cards
Flash Cards can help test student progress. Cards coordinate with our books, and even match page numbers!
Recommended Keyboards
Having a piano at home IS A MUST.
*Tip* A traditional piano cannot be beat. It is accurate, and although it has to be tuned, IT CAN ALWAYS BE FIXED. There is a long list of perks. Electric keyboards have plenty of perks, but please do not feel as if you must go with a keyboard.
If some of these selections are not for you, two other options include finding a local music store or Guitar Center. They can assist and you can physically see the difference. Also, Guitar Center has a better selection than Amazon, even for shipping.
The things you need with a keyboard:
- Weighted Keys
- 88 Keys
- Stand, Pedal, and Music Stand
- Speakers
Our current recommendations
- Cheapest option: THIS IS NOT THE BEST. This will work fine, but there are better options. We realize that spending over 200 dollars on a keyboard can be tricky, but if it is possible to save up, please do.
- Complete option: This keyboard with the stand has been sitting right at $400. A quality keyboard WITH everything included is difficult to find, and this is it. Is it the top brand? It is not, but several students who have used this keyboard have loved it.
- Our option: This item has been at 400 dollars throughout the year. We consider it a steal if an elite brand has an item that is cheaper than the competitors. This does not come with the stand, but $50 is well worth it considering the quality
All of our recommendations come between $150 and $500. If you are interested in a keyboard of better quality, feel free to reach out.
Keyboard Accessories
For Pedals and Sheet music stands, there is little difference in brands/quality. We have two generic ones, but feel free to choose something else if you’d like!
For Stands, please look for one that is at least double-bared. Single bar stands tend to be incredibly flimsy.
WE DO NOT ADVISE USING ANY STICKERS ON THE KEYS OF A KEYBOARD
Notes that stick to keyboards are usually not necessary. If you do wish to invest in note letters on your keyboard, please purchase these…
